  • 4 large russet potatoes
  • 6 Tablespoons butter cut into small cubes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • to taste Garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper

Method
 

  1. Peel and thinly slice potatoes using a mandoline.
  2. Soak sliced potatoes in cold water for 15 minutes, then pat dry.
  3. Butter a casserole dish and layer 1/3 of the potatoes.
  4. Dot with 1/3 of the butter and sprinkle with seasonings.
  5. Drizzle with 1/3 of the cream and repeat layers and seasoning 2 more times. Top with butter, seasonings and rest of the cream.
  6. Bake at 375 degrees for 1-1 ½ hours until top is brown and potatoes are done.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg to the cream mixture.
