Method
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- In a bowl, combine soup, milk, and pepper.
- In a greased casserole dish, layer half of the potatoes, onion (if using), and soup mixture. Repeat layers.
- Drizzle melted butter over the top.
- Cover and bake for 1 hour. Uncover and bake for an additional 15-30 minutes, or until potatoes are tender and top is golden brown.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use heavy cream instead of milk. Add shredded cheese during the last 10 minutes of baking for a cheesy topping.
