Easy (No Fail) Scalloped Potatoes and Ham

  • 6 cups potato slices thin sliced (1/4 inch)
  • 2 cups turkey ham any cooked turkey ham or Easter turkey ham leftovers
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 3 cups milk regular milk or 2% milk
  • 2 cups cheese cheddar cheese, or a combination of cheddar and mozzarella
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon dried chives
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Method
 

  1. Slice potatoes and chop ham. Season with salt and pepper.
  2. Melt butter, whisk in flour, then cheese. Gradually add milk and bring to a boil. Season and add herbs. Cook 1-2 minutes.
  3. Preheat oven to 375F/ 190C.
  4. Layer half the potato/ham mix in a greased dish, top with half the sauce. Repeat layers.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 70 minutes, until potatoes are tender.
  6. Remove foil, sprinkle cheese and herbs, bake uncovered for 10-15 minutes until golden and bubbly.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use heavy cream instead of milk.
