Ingredients
Method
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in flour, then gradually whisk in milk until smooth. Simmer, stirring constantly.
- Stir in salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Cook until sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.
- Layer half of the potatoes, then half of the turkey ham in the baking dish. Pour half of the sauce over.
- Repeat layers with remaining potatoes, turkey ham, and sauce.
- Cover with foil and bake for 1 hour. Remove foil and sprinkle with cheddar cheese (if using).
- Bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until potatoes are tender and cheese is melted.
- Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use heavy cream instead of milk.
