Ingredients
  

olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
vegetables
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
canned tomatoes
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
spices
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
seasoning
  • to taste Salt and pepper
garnish
  • optional Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Method
 

  1. Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  4. Add crushed tomatoes, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20-30 minutes.
  5. Adjust seasoning if needed, then serve over spaghetti. Garnish with basil if desired.

Notes

This sauce can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
