Method
- Prepare cake batter according to cake mix instructions.
- Bake cake in a round cake pan. Let cool completely.
- Level the cake if necessary.
- Frost the entire cake with a thin layer of white buttercream frosting (crumb coat). Chill for 30 minutes.
- Apply a thicker layer of white buttercream frosting to the entire cake.
- Tint small batches of buttercream frosting with various gel food colors.
- Pipe flowers and grass around the base and sides of the cake.
- Attach edible butterfly decorations to the cake.
- Add sprinkles for extra detail if desired.
- Chill the cake for at least 30 minutes before serving.

For best results, use high-quality gel food coloring for vibrant colors.
