Method
- Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add egg yolk and vanilla.
- Mix in flour, nuts, and salt until dough forms. Chill for 1 hour.
- Roll dough ⅛ inch thick. Cut into solid rounds and shapes with centers.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 8–10 minutes until edges are golden.
- Cool, spread jam on solid cookies, top with cutouts, and dust with powdered sugar.
Notes
Chill the dough thoroughly for best results and use a small cookie cutter for the center shapes.
