  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
Wet ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp red food coloring
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar, for rolling

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment.
  2. Mix dry ingredients in a bowl. Beat butter and sugar until fluffy, add eggs, vanilla, and food coloring.
  3. Gradually add dry mixture to wet, form dough, chill for 30 minutes.
  4. Shape dough into 1-inch balls, roll in powdered sugar, place on sheets.
  5. Bake 10-12 minutes until crackled. Cool before serving.
