Method
- Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
- In a separate bowl, whisk milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract. Add red food coloring if desired.
- Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and gently stir until just combined.
- Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium heat.
- Pour 1/4 cup of batter onto the hot griddle. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter if desired.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown. Remove cookie cutter immediately after pouring batter if using one.
- Serve immediately with your favorite toppings.
Notes
For extra fluffy pancakes, let the batter rest for 5-10 minutes before cooking.
