  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Red food coloring (optional) optional
  • Cooking spray
  • Heart-shaped cookie cutter (optional) optional

Method
 

  1. Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract. Add red food coloring if desired.
  3. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and gently stir until just combined.
  4. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium heat.
  5. Pour 1/4 cup of batter onto the hot griddle. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter if desired.
  6. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown. Remove cookie cutter immediately after pouring batter if using one.
  7. Serve immediately with your favorite toppings.

Notes

For extra fluffy pancakes, let the batter rest for 5-10 minutes before cooking.
