Method
- Preheat oven to 375°F and grease a 9 by 13-inch casserole dish.
- Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add onions and cook for 4-5 minutes until softened. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
- Stir in flour and mix until well incorporated.
- Whisk constantly, add milk, followed by chicken stock, salt, pepper, and thyme. Cook until the mixture boils and boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat.
- To the casserole dish, add 1/3 of the potatoes, followed by 1/3 of the turkey ham, and 1/3 of the sauce. Repeat for a total of three layers.
- Cover with foil and bake for 35 minutes. Remove the foil and sprinkle cheddar cheese on top. Bake uncovered for another 20-30 minutes until the potatoes are tender. Enjoy!
Notes
For a richer flavor, use heavy cream instead of milk.
